Pacific Street:

scope: skylight shade installation
team:  tebuild, envelop ad
year:   2020

One of the first projects I worked on after moving to San Francisco was a skylight installation. In recent years, our client noticed that not only has the number of sunny days increased, the sun seemed also more intense.

The solution, a cat's cradle weave offering optimal balance of diffuse light

and materiality. In total, 18,000 ft of non-elastic, UV resistant rope was woven by hand using a makeshift, rope-sized shuttle.

Design and weaving by Envelope AD / Douglas Burnham and team, we

handled the onsite installation including precise steel beam drilling.
